37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as YOURSELF.’ Matthew 22
I have been a minister for thirty years. I have been in many different kinds of churches. I have left the church I have returned to the church. I think I have pretty much seen it all. I know the challenges of the ministry. I believe it to be one of the hardest jobs ever. Ministers need all the support that they can get but almost to a person ministers do not seek all the support they need. I am here to help.
I studied with Edwin Friedman up until he died in the 90's. If you are not aware of his work Google Generation to Generation or A Failure of Nerve: Leadership in the Age of the Quick Fix. Both of these works explore leadership and health from a "systems" perspective. His work, advice, and help matured me in many ways and helped me grow through many challenging events. I recommend his work to you. I also recommend taking the time and making the commitment to your own growth and health. Most ministers think that they shouldn't seek therapy. I think it is essential they do because the work is so challenging.
So I invite you to call me and let us start re-creating your world so it is the joy that you deserve. Self love is an essential part of the above passage. I look forward to hearing from you.
"Ultimately, healing and survival depend on existential categories: on vision, for example, on hope, on imaginative capacity, on ability to transcend the anxiety of those about us, and on a response to challenge that treats crisis as opportunity for growth."
